● The Answer – Charles Bernstein a Capella [3:32]

In April 2001 I was in New York together with Lars Movin and Thomas Thurah to make a documentary on The New York School of Poets. It was comissioned by the poetry festival »In The Making« which was an encounter between Danish and American poets. ‘Something Wonderful May Happen’ premiered August 2001 in Copenhagen. In one scene of the documentary author David Lehman in Washington Square Park was reading his poem in praise of the World Trade Center and with the twin towers as the backdrop. The recording in Riverside Park of Charles Bernstein reading his poem ‘The Answer’ was interrupted by the sound of a jet plane crossing Manhattan so we didn’t use it. But here it is complete with Charles Bernsteins instructions on how to edit the video. Only frames and soundbites from the original recording was used to construct the video and soundtrack.
